Windows 7 End of Life

End of life is the term that Microsoft uses to identify the period when the company will no longer support an operating system or application. In this case, it means that, as of Jan.14, 2020, Microsoft will move on from Windows 7 and no longer patch security holes in the operating system.

What Happens if I Continue to Use Windows 7?

If you continue to use Windows 7 after support has ended, your PC will still work, but it will become more vulnerable to security risks and viruses. Your PC will continue to start and run, but you will no longer received software updates, including security updates, from Microsoft.

Depending on the age of your computer, you should be able to upgrade to Windows 10. Your files should not be affected, but it is not a bad idea to backup your computer before the upgrade. Let us know if you would like assistance. 319-338-5475
